The board appears here once the page loads.

Puzzles are generated in your browser and every one is checked to have exactly one solution. Difficulty is set by the solving steps a puzzle needs, not only by how many numbers it starts with. Nothing is uploaded or saved. Print at 100% scale.

How to print sudoku puzzles

Pick a difficulty, choose 1, 2, 4 or 6 puzzles per page and how many pages you want, then press Print or save as PDF. Leave the answer pages on to get every solution at the back, with the starting numbers in bold.

  • One puzzle per page gives the largest squares; six per page makes a compact packet.
  • Write down the puzzle number to print the same set later.
  • Press New puzzles for a fresh set at the same settings.

How difficulty works

Easy and medium puzzles can be finished by finding cells with only one possible number and numbers with only one possible cell; medium starts with fewer numbers. Hard puzzles also need pairs and pointing eliminations. Expert puzzles need more than that. Every puzzle has a single solution, so you never have to guess between two answers.

Each set prints the puzzles first and the answer key last, so you can hand out the puzzles and keep the answers. The answers show the starting numbers in bold and the solved numbers in gray, which makes checking a finished grid quick.

Print or play online

The first puzzle of every set is also on the board below the maker. Tap or click a cell, then type a number or use the number buttons. Notes mode lets you pencil in candidates, Check marks any wrong numbers, and Hint fills in one cell.

A few helpful answers

Before you begin.

Are these sudoku puzzles free to print?

Yes. Print as many as you like with no account. The only extra text on the page is a small line with the site name.

Does every puzzle have one solution?

Yes. Each puzzle is checked by a solver before it is shown, so there is exactly one correct way to fill the grid.

Can I print the answers?

Yes. Keep Add answer pages at the end ticked. The answers show the starting numbers in bold and the rest in gray.

How do I print the same puzzles again?

Type the puzzle number shown in the status line and on each puzzle, keep the same settings, and print again.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. The board below the maker works with taps. Tap a square, then tap a number. Notes, Check and Hint work on phones too.

How is difficulty decided?

By the solving steps a puzzle needs. Easy and medium need only single-candidate steps, hard needs pairs and pointing eliminations, and expert needs more than that.
